body of knowledge

you know that tingling in your gut? the one where you just know what’s going to happen? as if your gut bacteria were straight up magic and could guess at what the future holds. as if being a part of you and being a part of the universe was enough. because it is. and because, you do know. you knew something bad would happen the day you got hit by that bus, or the day you flipped your car. you knew the day you met him that you’d sink your tongue into his mouth, and sink yourself into his warmth. you knew the day you picked out your dog, that she was your dog. you knew the way the sun set that day your grandmother died was not a coincidence, that it was the universe sending her off with style. when you pay attention, you know.
